Work with MYS
Grants & Communications Internships
MYS is seeking 2-3 grants & communications interns! If you are passionate about telling stories, writing, and learning why MYS makes a difference, we have a special learning opportunity!
We are looking for great writers to help gather stories, feedback, and anecdotal information from our students and parents regarding their experiences with MYS. Think of this as investigative reporting for music education! You will be provided a small set of questions touching on MYS programs and initiatives and asked to have casual conversations with students and parents during rehearsal about their MYS stories. This information will then be used in our grants and development materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Attention to detail and deadlines
- Interest in music education
Time and Hours
We anticipate that this project will require approximately 3-5 hours per week for one term or semester. This includes attending rehearsals and writing/delivering content.
Learning Opportunities and Compensation
This is an unpaid position. Benefits include complimentary concert tickets and invitations to events. Learning opportunities include conducting interviews; coalescing, transcribing and formatting interview and feedback information; writing narrative; some direct grant writing and narrative content preparation for grants; experience in a small nonprofit arts administrative environment.
Send a cover letter (no more than 1 page), resume, and 3 references to Development Manager, Jessica Stern. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
MYS has no paid job openings at this time.
We can always use volunteers, so if you are interested in getting involved, please fill out the volunteer form to let us know how you can help.
