MYS’ season finale, “From Oregon to Iberia,” was the first stop on our summer tour to Spain and Portugal, and featured several pieces Symphony Orchestra will perform abroad! The immersive lineup includes:

- Portland Beauty, by award-winning composer and MYS conductor Giancarlo Castro D’Addona
- Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol
- José Pablo Moncayo’s Huapango
- Ruth Gipps’ Oboe Concerto (mvt 1) performed by this year’s MYS Concerto Competition Winds/Brass/Percussion/Piano Category Winner Mia Hale
Plus, music from The Authentic Voice student commissioning series:
- Music for an Imaginary Cartoon, first performed in November, is accompanied by the premiere screening of an animated film by student animators from Portland Art Museum’s Center for an Untold Tomorrow (PAM CUT)
- The world premiere of Freedom Overture by Young Composers Project composer Amir Avsker
