Hillsboro Ensembles*

MYS has multiple string only ensembles that rehearse in Hillsboro on Saturdays. If your skill level matches, would you be interested in participating in an all-strings ensemble located in Hillsboro?

Students auditioning on more than one instrument or auditioning for both jazz and orchestra/wind should select 2 audition times. Alternative Live Audition Dates*

Please provide us with at least two (2) dates that you would like to request for a live audition. An MYS Staff member will be in touch with you to schedule a time for your auditon.

After you submit the Registration Form, an MYS Staff member will be in touch with you to schedule an audition time. Additional times on your selected date may be available. If there are no available times on the date you selected, additional dates/times may be offered.

Video Audition: Scheduled Excerpts

Auditions will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis for Fall Term enrollment through mid September. Winter auditions should be submitted by November 4, 2024.
Video Auditions consist of 2 parts: 1) Solo Repertoire and Scales and 2) Scheduled Excerpts (this takes the place of sight-reading in a live audition).

Jazz Auditions: Excerpts are not required for students who are auditioning only for Jazz ensembles. If auditoning for orchestra or wind ensembles as well as jazz, please schedule excerpts below. If only registering for Jazz, check the box below, this will bypass scheduling excerpts.

I am only registering for placement in a Jazz ensemble.

After registering, students will be sent information about how to complete a video audition. Students will also be required to record and submit scheduled excerpts. On their scheduled date, students will receive an e-mail with a link to a PDF along with information for how to submit recordings. This document will contain several musical excerpts in order of difficulty. Students are asked to select and record the two most advanced excerpts that they can perform accurately at the indicated tempo.

Students will have 3 days to complete their recording for the provided excerpts. Alternative dates may be requested (please provide 2 options). MYS Staff will contact you to confirm the dates to complete the Scheduled Excerpts.

PHOTO/VIDEO IMAGE RELEASE*

I understand that MYS will not share audition videos publicly. However I give MYS permission to photograph and record video, images, and audio of the musician while participating in any MYS activity. I understand these images and recordings may be used by MYS to promote MYS and/or its musicians. I agree that neither I nor the musician will receive compensation for MYS’s use of such images or recordings.
