Heidi Aíspuro

Heidi Aíspuro is a Portland, OR-based multi-instrumentalist, educator and arranger who has performed anything from Igor Stravinsky to Frank Zappa. She currently performs with Portland Choir and Orchestra and Northwest Trombone Collective on alto and tenor trombones as well as several original song-writer projects on vocals, saxophone and other wind or keyboard instruments.

Growing up in the Portland area, Heidi was very active with the city’s musical opportunities; receiving honors at solo competitions and participating in multiple youth ensembles on several instruments. After a 5-year period of studying and performing low brass in Boston, MA, she moved back to Portland to complete her degree in music education. After finishing at Portland State University in 2018, Heidi co-founded and directed a before-school band program at Portland’s Laurelhurst K-8 School, offering beginning and intermediate level classes to middle school students until the spring of 2020.

In 2019, Heidi joined the staff of BRAVO Youth Orchestras, an El Sistema-inspired program based in North Portland, as a brass teaching artist and has since helped shape and design BRAVO’s wind program implementation and curriculum – including arranging pieces for the different types of student ensembles – in the many roles she has served, including her current position as the Winds Program Manager. She also currently serves as the low brass section coach and chamber music coach at East Winds Band Camp, Portland’s premier band camp for middle and high school students, since the summer of 2022.
